health and safety

The increasing focus on health and safety is something that runs through BK Grain's business philosophy, ensuring that all projects are undertaken to the highest standards and meet the very latest health and safety legislation.

As a company, we offer a fully comprehensive Health and Safety advice service, ranging from risk assessments on all agricultural procedures to method statements for individual practices and CDM co-ordinating of your own F10 reportable building projects, including acting as Principal Designer and Principal Contractor.

All Health and Safety work is carried out by our own fully qualified staff who are accredited through the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH). We are also members of the Association for Project Safety (APS) and hold full Professional Indemnity Insurance.

Our primary responsibility is to ensure that all BK Grain installations and operating advice meet the highest standards of health and safety, but we can also offer advice on other areas of safety to our clients.

Legislation is increasingly complex and it takes considerable time, knowledge and experience to comply with all the necessary regulations, including noise mitigation, environmental, highways and other issues, before work on site can begin. It’s not always enough to just know what the regulations are – when it comes to things like fire regulations, insurance companies often have tougher requirements than the statutory authorities. Therefore, we always design out as much risk as possible and ensure that our projects are built to a standard that insurers will expect.

Please get in touch with us to find out more about BK’s Health and Safety service, and to enquire about advice for your own projects.

Stuart Dennis, General Manager

Many farmers don't realise that if someone has an accident on their land they could be held responsibile for what happens, and if they haven't been following proper health and safety procedures that could land them in real trouble. It's very important that farmers choose a contractor with sound health and safety policies, which is why we have our own in-house adviser at BK Grain.
